Gadget I Didn't Know I Needed - Leaf Chute
It’s officially leaf season and while that means the scenery is beautiful, it also means that the yardwork is fairly relentless. Trying to put yard waste in paper bags can be so frustrating. It seems that they are constantly collapsing, falling over, or not staying open. And where I live, the city empties the bags rather than composting them. While I am all about reusing things, a paper bag that has been used multiple times DEFINITELY doesn’t keep its shape.
So what’s the answer? A Lawn and Leaf Chute! I was recently out for a run when I saw a neighbor using one of these and stopped running to order one for myself. It can be inserted in just a few seconds and makes using paper yard waste bags SO much easier!
As you can see, it provides a funnel to help yard waste actually go into the bag and has 3 walls to help keep the bag upright and open.
Is it perfect? No. Does it make yard clean up WAY easier? YES! To be honest, I don’t love that it’s made of plastic for environmental reasons however because it is made of plastic, it can be used over and over for a long time. I guess you can’t win ‘em all. Because it does bend, I expect it will break at some point however it’s nothing a little duct tape can’t handle (have I mentioned I’m from the South?).
Do you have one of these? Do you love it? Do you love pretending it’s a coffin like my daughter does? Let us know in the comments!
