To me, each season is not just a time of year but a feeling. Spring feels lighthearted and cheerful with its lighter colors and textures yet still calls for layers. One of my favorite parts of Autumn is the sense of coziness that comes with the changing colors and the shorter days. The season calls for more layers and more comfort - the foundations of the principle of Hygge.

While many of us crave a light and airy aesthetic, Autumn inspires a moody look with darker colors and warmer tones, natural textures and materials. And though those two seasons and feelings seem to be opposite end of the spectrum, they compliment each other well. When we are cozy and safe it is easy to feel optimistic and lighthearted.

Below is what I call a Feminine Woodland Bedroom. The design embraces the colors and textures of Autumn while maintaining the light and airy sensibility of Spring. It is modern and cozy without feeling frumpy and dated.
