Airy Modern Boho Living Room - Shop the Look

I love Summer but I have to say, Spring is my favorite season. It feels like such a breath of fresh air after a gloomy winter. Everything feels soft and familiar and leaves you excited about what is to come!

For this e-design client project, I wanted the room to feel like Spring - light and airy, contemporary yet comfortable. My client recently moved from NC to a condo in a larger city in South Florida for a promotion with work and wants her space to reflect her more mature status yet maintain her youthful spirit. She loves a modern boho style and wants to incorporate some of the 80’s aesthetic.

The starting point for this design was the arched cabinets from Anthropologie. She fell in love with the rounded top, glass doors, and sage green color and I have to say - I totally agree!! They add storage which is key for condo/city living while maintaining a sophisticated and feminine vibe.

The jute rug from rugs.com provides a neutral backdrop and can be used in any living situation. And best of all, the price won’t break the bank!

The paint color, White Dove by Benjamin Moore is a nice warm white that helps reflect the light in her new, small space.

The sofa and chairs, more Anthropologie gems, maintain the relaxed yet elevated feel. Being a self-proclaimed “beach bum”, she wanted to keep a casual, beachy feel and provide enough seating to entertain.

A round walnut coffee table continues the rounded theme from the arched top cabinets. The large round chandelier from West Elm mimics the shape of the coffee table beneath it while providing ample light and a modern boho aesthetic.

The light filtering curtains help provide softness to the room, improve privacy, and provide a little pop of tone-on-tone pattern.

While the primary palette of the room is soft and neutral, the art provides the punch of fun and excitement that reflects her personality. By using a variety of art styles, the space feels eclectic and unique rather than store-bought.

Continuing the theme of fun and excitement, we used pillows with large scale pattern and bold colors that are carried over from the artwork. The smaller dusty pink pillows keep the space feeling balanced and not overly busy.

The result of this design is a modern boho living room that maintains the airy feeling of the beach. But the most important result is that my client is happy with her new space and feels excited about her new adventure!
